David Carson Lecture

Civilization's Design Lecture Series

Creative agency Civilization presents Design Lecture Series, featuring internationally acclaimed designers April Greiman, Stefan Sagmeister, David Carson, and Ken Garland. Civilization’s Design Lecture Series brings world-class designers to Seattle to engage with the creative community and enhance the current conversation on design application and innovation.

The series continues with David Carson, best known for his innovative magazine design and use of experimental typography. He was the art director forthe magazine Ray Gun. Carson was the most influential graphic designer of the 1990s; in particular, his widely imitated aesthetic defined the so-called “grunge typography” era.

All Design Lecture Series events are free and open to the public. Events will be held at the Microsoft Auditorium at the Seattle Central Library (designed by Rem Koolhaas/OMA).

Advanced ticket reservation can be made here at with 50 tickets available at the door the day of the event. Doors open at 6:30pm. Attendees can peruse exhibition spaces from Design Lecture Series sponsors before the lecture, which begins at 7:00pm. The lectures will be moderated by former Adobe Creative Cloud Product Manager Jody Rodgers, and the audience is encouraged to post questions for the lecturer via twitter by tagging #designlectures.
