They devised a new scheme that was ‘more classic and classy’. For the new store on Bogstadveien, they opted for variations on British and French themes. Two large, custom-made couches are upholstered in a striped Paul Smith fabric (which is also used for staff aprons), and its colourful palette is reflected in the other furnishings. A bevy of Tom Dixon brass lamps, plus a grouse-themed wall covering and packaging – inspired by an oil painting owned by BIT’s proprietor – reinforce the Anglomaniac overtones. Meanwhile, French bistro tiles and the Bouroullecs’ Steelwood chairs add the Gallic touch. Finally, a large Moooi table completes BIT’s European tour. Says Axel Hartvig-Larsen: ‘It’s really a new fusion style.’
