This month, German artist Matthias Weischer presents an entirely new exhibition of paintings, New Paintings, at Grimm Gallery in Amsterdam.
Weischer is best known for his intricate, intimate scenes of interiors, with depictions of furniture and decoration culled from mid-century furniture catalogues and images of 19th-C studios.
In his newer work, he was inspired to draw and paint nature more extensively during a stint with the German Academy in Rome. This work combines his more typical interior scenes with fantastical landscapes.
This exhibition, Weischer's first solo exhibition in the Netherlands since 2008, features both large-scale interior paintings and smaller works, including his series Pulp Painting.
New Paintings runs at Grimm Gallery in Amsterdam from 23 March to 11 May.
