RG05

The basic form of a cube provides infinite possibilities of spatial play. And play Rui Grazina does, by subtracting and separating parts from the whole. The RG05 is a result of the designer’s research on the geometrically perfect form of a cube – a solid storage box measuring 170 mm3, that can be separated into four trays with different facilities to store precious objects. The RG05 is made up of wenge and rosewood, which lend the design a slight play of colour and texture as well. Just like the building blocks, the design allows one to experiment with the different pieces to suit one’s own artistic and functional sensibilities. This versatile piece was presented at the Rio de Janeiro Design Week in November 2010 and will be exhibited at the ‘Talents’ section of Ambiente, Frankfurt, in February 2011.
