Seventy-Five Installation

by Nils Volker

For one of his largest installations to date, Nils Völker used 75 white cushions, aluminum sheets, a system of cooling fans and custom-made electronics.

Covering a three-storey-high wall in the Kuandu Museum of Fine Arts in Taipei, the installation is aptly named Seventy-Five for the number of cushions used.

‘My installation consists of a matrix of white cushions which are selectively inflated and deflated in controlled rhythms, creating wavelike animations across the wall,’ explains Völker, an artist and communication designer.

The installation is part of an exhibition titled Transjourney, which is one of the largest traveling media art exhibitions in Taiwan. It can be visited until 19 February at the Kuandu Museum of Fine Arts. Also on display are pieces by Nam June Paik, Bill Viola and Zimoun.
