Wins 2012 Interior Innovation Award

Studio Lawrence – which has offices in London and Rotterdam – has been awarded the 2012 Interior Innovation Award for its Raising Lantern and To Gather designs.

The award is hosted by the German Design Council and the 2012 winning products will be shown in a special exhibition at the imm Cologne in January.

The Raising Lantern is a series of cylindrical shapes which are interchangeable and can be stacked in numerous compositions. It can shrink or grow up to 3.10m in height, thus transforming from floorlamp to pendant light. Radiating a soft light, the lanterns are sculptural and can work to divide space.

To Gather is a modular sofa system made of angular seating units that mix-and-match to form endless combinations. Coated in bright Kvadrat upholstery, the pieces create rainbows of colour pending how they are arranged. The system also encourages interactions, as the user is tempted to move and reconfigure the elements.
