For its current tour, Brooklyn-based band Yeasayer’s eye-popping stage design achieves a dazzling effect, despite being made with a minimal budget.
Thanks to artist and designer Casey Reas’ use of software and video, LED lighting and geometric reflective structures create a sophisticated 3D screening surface for the visuals. The whole ensemble is adaptable to different venues and customizable in a matter of hours.
'What we're looking to deliver in terms of live performance is walking the line between craft and chaos,' says musician Chris Keating of Yeasayer. 'I always want it to be teetering on the edge of falling apart. That clash between technology and humanity is what makes, for me, an interesting experience.'
The project was commissioned by The Creators Project, a platform put together by Vice and Intel in order to showcase outstanding creative uses of technology.
