Residents of a small Belgian town have seen a major facelift at their local pharmacy, which has been tranformed from an old farm house into a modern drugstore.

Located near Ghent, Belgium, the apothecary sits next to a main road in Sint-Martens-Latem. The existing pharmacy was an outdated farmhouse which the CAAN Architecten team decided to demolish.

The new three-storey building has a basement – used for storage space and a laboratory – and ground floor, which holds the pharmacy and sales area. The first level has a private bathroom, kitchen and sleeping area, plus a ‘green’ terrace that’s visible from the street.
