Chromatic infusions update creative workspace in an old factory
Studio Besau-Marguerre gives online fashion label About You a creative workspace for their in-house photo studio by injecting a bare industrial core with three distinct hues – bright yellow, millennial pink, and cobalt blue. The on-trend palette complements its concrete home in a laidback open concept of urban loft meets modern office.
White brick, matte black, and sleek concrete offer a stark background to the colourful selection of furniture by E15 and Hay. Applied in restrained proportions, the bold hues bring life to the dichromatic structure and create a dialogue between the building’s industrial past and its modern additions. The fluidity of the layout is maintained with translucent partitions composed of bevelled glass and black frames – reflecting the aesthetic of the building – while acoustic curtains provide flexible niches of privacy.
A custom-designed bar and magazine rack complement the old factory setting while maintaining a distinct character – leaving undisturbed the inherent edge of the building’s history and filling the chromatic void with minimal installations. Smooth acoustic panels made with Kvadrat textiles rest against the textured brick alongside prints by About You, forming a graphic collage that feels almost editorial. A large pink circle superimposed on the smooth concrete floor extends the graphic geometric forms to the horizontal plane, and unites various partitioned spaces.
Studio Besau-Marguerre’s design merges the stimulating creative environment of an artist’s loft with the trendy cues of a modern company, resulting in a space perfectly suited to the brand where photographers can feel inspired and relaxed. Thoughtful chromatic infusions provide a visual focus to the former factory without erasing its aesthetic identity.
