Colour sets the stage for product display at this Oslo multi-brand store
Inviting hues are a central aspect of David Thulstrup’s stores for Scandinavian multi-brand retailer Collage. At the Oslo menswear location, the star tone is bright yellow.
A purveyor of luxury fashion for men and women, Collage has locations in Copenhagen, Oslo and Aarhus, selling labels including Balenciaga, Gucci, Loewe and more. The stores are unified by their material focus and attention to form. And while it might be a point of differentiation, colour defines them all, too: each interior takes on a key tone, from pistachio green to baby blue. For the 120-sq-m Oslo space Thulstrup selected a punchy mustard yellow, using the tone in high-gloss lacquer for surfacing, textile for upholstering a long bench seat and plexiglass inserts behind shelving. The vibrant cladding highlights the space, offset by white-tone LED lighting, aluminium finishing and block-like furniture; bespoke large units combine display space with interior storage. ‘In a retail environment, garments and accessories should always be the main focus but I wanted to provide an eye-catching environment to showcase them,’ explains Thulstrup.
