Copenhagen Ceramics Exhibition
Let them eat cake … from beautiful cake stands! For the latest installment of the Copenhagen Ceramics series, six young ceramists of the collective Inhabitants have created 30 cake stands.
For the unique project they have placed orders with each other, giving directions of what they would like in the commission. The designers imaged that the Copenhagen Cerammics gallery – where the pieces would later be displayed – was a former cake-making factory.
The result is a myriad of unique and unconventional cake stands, from twisting Rococo-style creations to those with hanging tassels or feathery protrusions.
Inhabitants ceramists include Mikael Jackson, Kristine Tillge Lund, Signe Schjøth, Louise Birch, Ole Vesterlund and Christin Johansson. Their creative stands will be on exhibition until 19 May. Copenhagen Ceramics is a program that will host 10 Danish ceramic exhibitions in 2012.
On Sunday 28 April at 2:00 p.m., the gallery will host an artist talk with Inhabitants.
