FreshBritain and Campaign created a pop-up store for Dr.Martens that stays true to the brand’s working class roots.

Respectively consisting of branding experts and award-winning retail designers, the two studios worked on a low-budget project to celebrate the company’s spirit while simultaneously remaining cost-effective.

Dr.Martens’ iconic shoes are showcased in metal cages or on wooden pallets, sporting bare and industrial aesthetics that are made warmer by a masterful use of lighting. Essential hanging lamps are dotted throughout the store; zig-zagging neons represent the only visual frill, acting as a background for the shelves and tinting the store with the company’s trademark yellow colour. To provide more subtlety, PVC curtains soften the atmosphere and create new transparencies and spaces.

Not only was the shop furnished with salvaged objects and low-cost materials, it was also realized in just six days at the Old Spitalfields Market in London.
