Calling themselves MetamorphOse, a group of young Belgian architects from Brussels is seeking to discover the potential of a given environment through construction and the development of ideas. Impression of the Infinity – a landscape installation in Béziers, France – is just such a project. According to the group, an installation doesn’t necessarily involve building new volumes or making a large-scale construction. Their installations have an impact on the way we perceive a given area; they are simple gestures that will not modify the landscape, but the way we see it. Impression of the Infinite is a series of mirrored globes, positioned to reflect the surrounding area and each other. When evening falls, small, phosphorous balls light up, gradually getting brighter as the atmosphere gets darker. The installation will be in place until October, 2010.
