Lucien Gumy has been awarded first prize in the D3 Design Talents competition at imm Cologne, one of the most prominent prizes awarded to young designers.

The Switzerland-based designer was recognized for his customizable wooden shelving unit, called simply 'L´étagère en bois'.

Second prize was awarded to German designer Tina Schmidt, for her multi-functional cubic shelving unit, 'Tilt'.

Third prize was awarded to Design Academy Eindhoven grad Dennis Parren, for his 'CMYK Lamp', which reflects light on it's surroundings.

D3 Design Talents is an international design competition reserved for design students and recent graduates, founded in 2004. The shortlist of 21 designers presented their designs at imm Cologne this week.
