Sleek and streamlined surfaces define a men’s health and grooming store in New York.

The MenScience shop, realized by HWKN, juxtaposes blackened steel with locally-sourced recycled wooden planks for the ultimate masculine aesthetic. Arranged into neat grids, the shelving units are intended to resemble a tunnel that draws in passers-by.

Further enhancing the tube-like feel is the fact that the shop runs between two streets, linking them together. It has two entrances on either end, creating a literal ‘tunnel of products.’

‘The footprint of the store is small, but the visual impact of the location is huge,’ says Marc Kushner, co-founder of HWKN. ‘It’s a highly trafficked area – pedestrians, bicyclists and cars –  and the design is meant to be read from the inside and outside.
