The metal racks that hang from a sliding system on the ceiling act as product display cases, organizing and dividing the space. In a few easy movements, they can glide out of the way, opening the space completely when needed.
In fact, aside from the toilet, hairdressing chair and cupboard, the metal rack system is the only furniture in the shop.
‘We wanted to create a flexible and dynamic space with as little material as possible,’ says Machiel Spaan of M3H Architecten. ‘We wanted to find a re-usable material that would be cheap and look hip.’
The solution was found in used rubber bicycle tubes, which pair with the metal racks for an eco-friendly result.
