MIDO Fair Stand
An amazing 2200 pieces of paper were used to create a trade fair stand in Milan earlier this month.
Resembling a mix between an inverted glacier and criss-cross paper model, the structure was used to display eyewear and provide a lounge area. The stand was commissioned by MIDO, an International Optics, Optometry and Ophthalmology Exhibition.
The installation spanned 4600-sq-m in total, built around internal coloured lights that would glow from within, giving the structure a sense of life.
The concept was to not overpower exhibitors at ground level; set designer Francesco Pagliariccio thus constructed the project on the ceiling, as if overlooking the show space.
Miraculously, the paper pieces were pre-fabricated and the entire design was built in just 24 hours.
