Zurich gallery THE PROPOSAL is currently hosting a sumo-sized installation as part of a project that combines art and hospitality.

Stretching 5-by-5m, Too Fat to Fail is a massive inflatable naked man who’s sitting – and filling – the gallery space. It was inspired by one of the worlds’ fattest men alive, Mexico’s Manuel Uribe, and can be seen until 31 December.

Too Fat to Fail is the first of six planned projects that will show at THE PROPOSAL between now and April, 2012. The gallery’s founders, Maret and Lenny Staples, have a unique concept: inside the gallery – and in a trailer outside it – they run a bed and breakfast which was designed by Christian Weber.

‘Guests experience being part of an art gallery during and also while exhibitions are being installed,’ Maret explains. ‘They become residents in art.’

THE PROPOSAL opened last month at Dubsstrasse 33A, 8003, Zürich. It’s mission is not to present art, but to showcase a prototype version of possible artwork.
