Tunnel for iPad
A new iPad application is inviting users to escape reality and head into mysterious tunnels, albeit virtually.
As the user scrolls through the book of tunnels – most of which are under construction – he or she can journey through 56 different scenes from the Shinagawa Expressway to Tokyo Bay Aqualine. The locations will not be photographed again once the construction is over.
Each photo is accompanied by a text by the civil engineering photographer Hoichi Nishiyama, which provides background into the underground world one might otherwise never see. The app-book also includes an essay by Masahiro Nakata, a specialist of tunnel engineering.
