The company may be uber-technical but its interior can still be elegant: so prove the architects at Ivy Studio with Vention’s Montreal workspace.

Key features

Based in Montreal, Vention is known for developing a system of customized aluminium extrusions that simplify industrial automatization for manufacturers. The aesthetic of these perforated extrusions – and their signature ‘Vention blue’ colour – became the key components in Ivy Studio’s transformation of Vention’s 1,300-sq-m warehouses in Montreal’s Saint-Henri neighbourhood into the company’s slick workspace.

Frame’s take

Somehow, Ivy and Vention have managed to make metal extrusions sexy. What’s more, the space takes on an active role as a working showroom by highlighting Vention’s product in action. The clever integration of neon lighting into certain areas of the perforated steel sheets really brings the material to life. Extra kudos for transforming ordinary into covetable by choosing navy blue smoked glass over transparent for the tabletops.
