Inspired by textile fibres in their most natural form, a womenswear shop in Tokyo boasts a neutral, simple aesthetic.

Designers at Nendo say they used three standard elements in the shop: steel structural beams, curtains and walls. In the centre of the store, a framed area is cloaked by fabric while doubling as a display unit. Hangers, mannequins, shelves and lights can all be easily added or removed from the unit, pending display needs.

‘The design uses ordinary materials in a simple way to offer great functionality,’ say Nendo representatives. ‘The playfulness of “reshuffling” the relationship between the materials effectively draws out their charms.’
