Montana System

Company Profile

Danish furniture company Montana stems from a need for individuality and self-expression, offering one of the most comprehensive storage systems on the market. Composed of 36 modules, 4 depths and 42 colours, the system can be customized with a wide variety of special features and components. It was designed by founder Peter J. Lassen in 1982, whose vision it was to offer a complete, 100 per cent flexible furniture storage system that could fit seamlessly with all kinds of rooms and personal belongings.

Montana sells in more than 30 countries, with showrooms in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Germany, Korea and Singapore. Its products are made in Denmark at the company's family-owned factory on the island of Funen in Haarby. With 19,000 sq-m of production area, the factory employs 160 skilled workers.

Montana is founded on sustainable values and has achieved certification to numerous environmental and workplace environment and safety standards. In 2019, the company was one of the first furniture manufacturers to be awarded the official EU Ecolabel.

For Copenhagen's 3 Days of Design in May 2020, Frame and Montana are challenging young designers to conceptualize a fluid office lobby based on the Montana System. Find the full Frame x Montana Creative Challenge brief here.
