Altuzarra Launch by Alexandre de Betak

Alexandre de Betak designed the event space for Altuzarra’s Target launch.

American mass retailer Target tapped Joseph Altuzarra – who started his eponymous fashion label in 2008 – for its affordable designer collaboration series. Silhouette-shaping cotton-modal python prints, satin dresses and sheer blouses make up most of the nearly 50-piece collection.

The launch party channelled Altuzarra’s signature style of sophisticated, modern glamour. French production designer Alexandre de Betak transformed the Skylight Clarkson Square event space in SoHo into an enchanted environment with a ceiling covered in tiny, constellation-like lights and richly hued, velvety blue curtains covering the walls.

Separate rooms within the larger space were covered in floor-to-ceiling mirrors, which reflected groups of mannequins donning the collection from all angles. Combined with the lights above, they created an immersive, sparkling atmosphere much like Yayoi Kusama’s Fireflies on the Water.
