Caja de Badajoz

The volumes of the two bodies rest in equilibrium with one another.

CAJA DE BADAJOZ – Two contrasting volumes combine in a well-balanced composition at the new headquarters of Spanish savings bank Caja de Badajoz, located in a town of the same name.

With a steel-and-glass façade, the tower contains offices of the bank. The lower concrete-covered unit houses a variety of public venues, including an auditorium, restaurant, nursery, gym, café and exhibition areas available for rent.

Studio Lamela architects used huge vertical slats, justified in different angles, to give the interior some privacy and protect from the strong incoming sunlight. The spacious rooftop is completely planted, mirroring the nature of the local countryside in Badajoz, Extremadura.
