Frankfurt, Germany – In line with the German Design Council’s mission to support growing expertise in the industry, the ein&zwanzig competition for young designers nurtures the next generation of talent. As indicated by its name, 21 designs will be selected by a seasoned jury and exhibited at Tortona Design Week during the Salone del Mobile 2018 in Milan, providing both the products and their creators with exposure on an international platform.
The 20 ‘winners’ and one ‘best of best’ award recipient enjoy all travel expenses paid to the largest design trade fair in the world, which attracts hundreds of thousands of the world’s best international professionals and makers each year. The ‘ein&zwanzig’ competition puts aspiring young designers at the epicentre of the industry, giving them an enviable jumpstart to their future careers. Opportunities for networking, collaboration, and inspiration abound in the famous Salone, taking place next year from 17 to 22 April.
Last year’s call for entries saw 574 submissions from 36 countries, building a solid foundation on which the council hopes to expand upon this year. Open to students and recent graduates, applications can be submitted through the ein&zwanzig website until 2 February 2018 and requires no fee to participate.
Promoting design in Germany and abroad, the competition is one of the initiatives enabling a vibrant creative community to flourish into the future. The competition offers participants more than just the opportunity to win exposure to a broad group of industry leaders, it endows them with an experience that promotes personal and professional development – paving the way for their careers, and providing self-driven individuals with the right context to forge their own success.
