Duality by Moment Factory

Music, imagery and illusions ‘all assist in telling a five-act tale of rebirth and renewal that indulges the imagination,’ the designers say.

An eight-minute-long 3D mapping project transformed a historic Atlantic City building from its present day appearance into a colourful mosaic, a crumbling monument and a multi-coloured geometric story.

The video animated show was realized by Montreal-based Moment Factory, a new media and entertainment studio specializing in video, lighting, architecture, sound and special effects. For the Duality show, projected on Atlantic City's Boardwalk Hall, the studio created a new concept that makes it appear as though the building is crumbling to the ground. The show runs for eight-and-a-half minutes, twice every hour in evenings.

‘Stones pulsate, arches crumble into stardust and the structure that once was evaporates in a spectacular amalgamation of light and sound, only to re-emerge at the behest of two competing yet complementary – and ultimately collaborative – entities representing the duality inherent in the Hall’s ongoing story,’ says Sakchin Bessette, co-founder of Moment Factory.
