At Frame Lab, Alice Bleton re-engages busy city dwellers with their surroundings

Amsterdam – Frame Lab explores design’s impact on our lives from four different angles, the Me, We, World and Wellness Labs, taking place at Amsterdam’s Westergasfabriek. On 21 and 22 February the two-day design event will address the future of the spaces through a blend of innovative panel discussions, exhibitions, talks and workshops.

Among the exhibits which redefine the relationship between individuals and their surroundings, the Monade Capsule by Design Academy Eindhoven graduate Alice Bleton is designed as an urban hut for busy city dwellers to pause and reconnect with the built environment.

Inspired by compact habitats designed for extreme conditions – be it mountain shelters, bunkers or spaceships – the pod attaches to a building roof facade offering a temporary escape and unique view of the city. The lightweight, weather-resistant structure is made of fiberglass and transparent resin, which allows for plenty of daylight to establish a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. Easily reproducible, the capsules can be spread around the city to form a network of unique observation points.
