Fudge Pop-up Salon by Zaha Hadid @ LDF

The space is said to celebrate ‘the architecture of hair.’ Photo: Zaha Hadid Architects.

Architect Zaha Hadid’s contribution to the London Design Festival is a graphic black and white pop-up hair salon.

Instead of situating work stations along the perimeter walls – a layout seen at typical hairdressers’ studios – Hadid has placed them in the centre of the space. Graphic angular designs cover the walls and floor, creating a somewhat dizzying effect for the viewer.

The salon has been realized for hair label Fudge and is open only until tomorrow. Hairdressers will cut, colour and style hair – though not everyone can partake. While appointments can made by invitation only, the public is welcome to visit the space at the Zaha Hadid Design Gallery.
