The exhibition Harmony, Entropy at Galleria Huuto Jätkäsaari in Helsinki will feature a collection of large-scale digital collages by Helsinki-based artist Linda Linko and graphic designer Tiina Koivusalo. Created with materials collected from their travels between 2008 and 2013, the duo's work emerged from the same starting point but manifested into diverse forms by their completion. Koivusalo's neutral pieces are guided by the laws of nature while Linko's colourful and expressive works are assembled from random elements and objects.
Photographs of mountains, rocks, dried branches and fallen leaves originating from 15 countries are harmonized into Koivusalo's collages. Depicted elements within the photographs recede into the background, letting their collective shape take priority and allow the viewer's imagination to freely interpret the image. Linda Linko – Frame 100's cover artist – interprets the atmosphere of five countries in Middle America with her Flags series. The vibrant images integrate the diverse cultures as well as her daily experiences with chaotic collages made with drawings, ink paintings, photographs, sketches and trash. Linko's lithograph series Australia will also be on display.
Harmony, Entropy begins 4 December and runs until 21 December 2014 in Galleria Huuto Jätkäsaari at Tyynenmerenkatu 6, Helsinki, Finland.
Linda Linko's Dami series produced for Frame Store Amsterdam is available at the Frame store.
