MIAMI – While the city's art and design scenes are abuzz with life, Swiss sanitary manufacturer Laufen presents their installation which explores the concept of Brazilianness – Impressões 2015 – Brazil – with a talk, events and exhibition starting 3 December.
Starting at 7pm on Friday 4 December, a multipanel discussion entitled Impressões of a Change will delve into the impact Brazil's economic situation has on art and design communities. Joining in the discussion, speakers will include designer and architect Jader Almeida, architect and interior designer Antonio Ferreira Junior of AMC projetos e decoração ltda as well as architect and founder of Anastassiadis Arquitetos, Patricia Anastassiadis. Together with Marc Viardot – Laufen's director of marketing and products – and Lauro Andrade Filho – Show Director Expo Revestir and promoter of DW! SAO PAULO DESIGN WEEKEND – the group will explore together how the things will change for the creative world and how the creative world changes things. Also at Miami Ironside and coinciding with the talks, the exhibition Impressões 2015 – Brazil: verse and reverse will be presented at the Laufen Showroom. Open until 6 December, the exhibition presents the works of Impressões by Laufen, a collection of vessels with illustrations influenced by Brazilian culture as interpreted by leading Brazilian creatives including Antonio Ferreira Jr. and Mário Celso Bernardes, Arthur Casas, Christian Cravo, Derlon Almeida, Jader Almeida, João Armentano, Marko Brajovic, Patricia Anastassiadis, Ricardo Bello Dias and Ronaldo Fraga. Their designs were applied to the Living SaphirKeramik washbasin bowl as one-off limited edition pieces to be donated to charities selected by the creatives throughout Brazil.
On Friday 4 December, the Design Escape Party will open all of Miami Ironside's showrooms from 8pm until midnight. Hosted in collaboration with Laufen, celebrations include craft cocktails while dancing the night away to Latin beats in palm-tree filled courtyards.
