Morphologies by Sarah-Linda Forrer

Inspired by ancient Egyptian beauty practices, Sarah-Linda Forrer – a graduate of DAE’s Man and Identity course – crafted a collection of mystical skincare tools. Highlighting the designer’s sensitivity to texture and colour, Morphologies transcends the shallow culture surrounding today’s cosmetics. Based on the historical Egyptian belief that beauty is a sign of holiness, the collection focuses on rituals. Materials such as alabaster, lava stone, brass and rubber, as well as hardwood sourced from an alpine river, are moulded into haptic instruments – or ‘trophies of imagination’, as Forrer calls them.
