Munich Shoes Santiago by Dear Design

The Santiago shop relies on a netting design made of laquered steel to recreate a miniature stadium.

A simple, athletic design gives shoppers at a sneaker shop in Chile the sensation of entering a basketball hoop, football net or stadium.

Spanish firm Dear Design created the interior for shoe label Munich, re-designing another of the brand’s stores inside a Valencia stadium.

For the Santiago shop, the designers re-shaped the signature angular ‘X’ found on each shoe, shaping it into a net of laquered white iron. Hanging from a metal frame along the uniform white ceiling, the netting-like appearance and blazing white light are intended as a miniature arena. The shoes themselves appear to hang in the web, dispersed equally, integrating window display and shop a single insular space.

The design won 2nd prize in the Retail Category at the International Interior Design Association’s Best Interiors of Latin America 2012 Competition.
