Noorderparkbar by Overtreders W and Bureau SLA

The Noorderparkbar is located in the Florapark in Amsterdam Noord.

AMSTERDAM – Noorderparkbar was made solely of materials purchased on marktplaats.nl - a homegrown Dutch version of Ebay.

Dutch designers and architects Overtreders W and Bureau SLA, began by buying a lorry (on the auction site), which they then used to collect construction items from all over the Netherlands. Designing and building the tiny coffee bar happened more or less simultaneously; since the parts were collected one by one, it was impossible to make construction plans in advance.

The resulting creation is located in a park in Amsterdam's Noord district. It consists of a bar, a terrace and two toilets which can be entirely closed using large wooden shutters.

The self-initiated project is intended as a solution to the stresses put on the Dutch construction industry by the financial crisis.
