PARIS – Mikou Design Studio has won a competition to realize a 4000-sq-m swimming pool in Issy-les-Moulineaux, France.
The proposed development is a transparent and luminous project, where structural elements form a functional building that permits light to flood in the interior.
An ecofriendly swimming pool will avoid the useless waist of energy in lighting and heating. Sunlight will filter inside through skylights in the changing rooms, illuminating the interior space naturally. The pool will be covered with a sun deck, vegetation and more roof windows that will ensure high-performance thermal insulation.
The exterior building form will be covered with undulating golden wooden panels to soften the volume’s linear effect.
Mikou Design Studio was founded by Moroccan sisters and architects Salwa and Selma Mikou, who are now based in Paris.
