Snapping a photo of your meal before digging in has become the 21st-century equivalent of saying grace. Thankfully, for those of us who believe that the first bite should be with the mouth, not the eye, Bob Dornberger has taken a stand against guests who prefer to photograph their food rather than eat it. At Secret Restaurant – the name given to a series of art-related ‘events’ hosted by Gamble House in Pasadena, California – the designer built and installed a conveyor belt that encouraged diners to grab their food as it moved by, before it ended up in the bin. It’s not clear, though, whether the speed and the element of chance affected the service charge.
