Sleep + Eat 2018 addresses the new challenges of the hospitality industry

London – This year’s Sleep + Eat conference will bring together top architects and designers working in the hospitality industry to discuss the future of the market.

‘This event is a gem for anyone interested in emerging ideas, success stories and insights that are rarely aired at industry conferences,’ explained Guy Dittrich, the curator and chair of the Sleep Conference. ‘It’s intimate in style, and that means there are also great meeting and networking opportunities to be had.’

Here’s a preview of the speakers.


Focused on operations, architecture and design, the Sleep Conference's panelists include Bruce Robertson, managing director of the Standard London, and Mark Bruce, the director of EPR Architects.

Russian, Belgian and American talent will come together to discuss success stories. Geraldine Dohogne of Zannier Hotels – the mind behind Ghent’s The Post, a historic post office converted into a boutique hotel – will be joined by Therese Virserius of Virserius Studio and the Moscow-based Sundokovy Sisters.

In this year’s Design Duo, Inge Moore and Nathan Hutchins – the co-founders of Muza Lab – will discuss what guests want from luxury hospitality design. ‘I believe in quiet luxury with its sustainable and ageless quality, authentic values and power of discovery which stimulate, comfort and engage,’ stated Hutchins.

Jamie Chappell, the global business director at Horwath HTL, will focus on turnaround, while Dr. Alanna Hare will explore the science of sleep and how it can increase our happiness and creativity.



The What’s Cooking? session, headed by Conran and Partners’ director Tina Norden, Aukett Swanke’s associate architect Nick de Klerk and Crème Design’s founder Jun Aizaki, will provide tips on how to navigate today’s fast-paced hospitality environment.

As F&B spaces gain importance in the hospitality industry, editor Harry McKinley and the duo behind B+K Architecture will delve into the evolving nature of restaurant and bar design. Benjamín Calleja, CEO of Livit Design, will explore how businesses can embrace AI to improve customer experience.

Another highlight is Moving East, a panel discussion focused on outstanding and innovative properties in Tbilisi, Vilnius and Gdansk.

In addition to these conferences, Sleep + Eat 2018 will also showcase innovative products in an international exhibition.
