Sunday Books: Fetishism in Fashion

Thread fetish: textile designer Karen Nicol has created some of contemporary fashion’s most intricate embroideries and laces.

The Mode Biennale in Arnhem provides insight into the current position of lifestyle and fashion, fashion design and fashion culture on an international level.

Now in its fifth year, the 2013 event has a theme of ‘Fetishism in Fashion’ and will be curated by trend forecaster Lidewij Edelkoort. In collaboration with co-curator Philip Fimmano and with the assistance of Willem Schenk, visitors to the Mode Biennale will be led through the extraordinary and currently unexplored territory of fashion and fetishism.

To coincide with the event’s launch, Frame is publishing its first fashion book. Authored by Lidewij Edelkoort with a host of remarkable contributors detailing the richness and versatility of the theme. She will create content for the book Fetishism in Fashion which is bound to shock at times but which will also never fail to be inspirational and touching. Here we share some images from the book.

Fetishism in Fashion will be published in June 2013. If you are interested to receive information about the pre-sale of this book (due in mid-May), please get in touch.
