Yu-Chen Hsu (Edinburgh College of Art): ‘Extending the Circle of Compassion’, kitchenware products designed with functionality and meaning.

This weekend, in case you are planning to prepare a spring feast, we decided to share with you some inspirational elements that would go a long way to transforming any gathering into a banquet.

In the book Masterclass: Product Design, Frame Publishers showcased the work of product designers attending some of the world’s leading graduate schools. Here, we share with you the work of some of those graduates featured in the book who have something in common – they have all designed products that that can be used for preparing, serving or simply having fun with food, and for decorating the dinner table. Products that are novel, natural and often thought provoking can give us food for thought and elicit some interesting dinner table discussions.

Masterclass: Product Design is the first in the design education book series from Frame Publishers and, in autumn 2013, three new books covering the leading graduate schools offering master’s degrees in architecture, fashion design and graphic design will be published. More information here.

We often feature student work on the website and in Frame (see the ‘best of 2012’ here, and if you know of some great student or graduate projects, we will be interested to hear from you.
