A two-part installation in London’s Science Museum turns the Media Space – the museum’s new photography and art gallery – into an interactive audio-visual experience.
Presence and 1000 Hands both take cues from line drawings and are brought together through sound and light. In 1000 Hands, visitors are invited to interact with the exhibition by creating line drawings on a smart phone app. These illustrations are then translated into growing and evolving forms that are projected onto multiple curved screens and accompanied by a constantly changing soundtrack.
Presence – a collaboration between Universal Everything and dancers Julia Eichten and Nathan Makolandra from Benjamin Millepied’s LA Dance Project – appears on a curved four-screen video installation that surrounds 1000 Hands. The dancers’ movements are captured and displayed on the screen as abstract forms against a background.
Universal Everything & You will run until 7 February 2014 at the Science Museum, Exhibition Rd, London SW7 2DD
