We Trust In Wood by Matali Crasset

Made from ash and sycamore wood, Matali Crasset's durable tableware collection is inspired by the rustic interiors of the rural houses.

Matali Crasset unveils a collection of tableware handcrafted within the forests of France's La Meuse region. The Paris-based designer collaborated with French craftsman Philippe Huet to produce We Trust In Wood, a tableware set made from locally-sourced ash and sycamore wood. The durable collection is comprised of seven objects inspired by the rustic interiors of the rural houses. Aside from inspiring the aesthetic of the bowls and plates, the forested La Meuse region is also the location for the object's realization and sales.

The collection is exclusively launched on the online marketplace Crowdy House, a platform which directly links makers with buyers to democratize the design industry. The streamlined process minimises retail commissions which 'allows our project to materialize, which would not be possible in a classic business,' says Crasset. Proceeds from the project's realization will benefit the activities of the Vent des Forêts organization. Crasset explains: 'This is a simple yet affordable way by which people can support the art centre.'
