Biografias VI by Alicia Martín
11-12 May 2022
IE Tower: P.º de la Castellana, 259E (Torre Caleido) 28046 Madrid
As part of the ongoing International Paper Biennial in The Netherlands, hundreds of books appear to be pouring out of a museum’s window in The Hague's downtown centre.
Entitled Biografias VI, the installation is made of hundreds of books suspended from a mesh wire cage. A sculptural intervention, the books are placed out of context and remain suspend – rain or shine – frozen in time as they plunge downwards, adding an element of surprise to the busy city street below.
This is the sixth edition of Martín’s Biografias series, which have also been installed in various locations across her native Spain.
The installation can be seen until 25 November at Museum Meermanno in The Hague. The biennial, which is also hosted in part at Museum Rijswijk, consists of work by over 20 international paper artists, hailing from as far away as Japan, France and the United States.
